Theresa Hernandez APN/CNP, IFMCP is Board Certified in Family Practice and Functional Medicine. She sees patients of all ages and is particularly passionate about caring for the Pediatric population. Consults for adults are typically 60 minutes, and 30 minutes for children. Her approach to care is a completely individualized model, each patient and every case is different!
When looking at total wellness, symptoms usually begin in the gut. In fact, the GI tract has been commonly referred to as the Second Brain in most Functional Literature. Theresa takes a detailed GI history and may order a comprehensive stool analysis or Sibo breath test when indicated.
We offer all types of allergy testing- from food allergies, to environmental, even gluten/celiac sensitivity testing. Sometimes chronic viral infections or difficulty recovering from recurrent bronchitis or pneumonia is an indication of an immune deficiency.
Discussing our response to stress and how we react to it in our everyday lives is of upmost importance in Functional Medicine. Most of us are running on adrenal overdrive, and Theresa can help you get back into balance. She looks at labs such as DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and can suggest other specialized hormone tests and treatments that will get you the answers and results you've been hoping for.
Foundations principals are key, but sometimes it can be difficult to get back on track. Theresa will always provide nutritional support and meals plans with every patient encounter. And even with kids, she teaches them how to- Eat the Colors of the Rainbow! Picky eaters, and their mothers, will be amazed at how easily good nutrition can taste!
